BIÑAN, Philippines – The city government of Biñan, Laguna tapped PLDT ALPHA, the corporate business group of leading telecommunications and digital services provider PLDT Inc., in a collaborative effort to attract investors and bolster local development.
PLDT ALPHA committed to providing the city with the Dedicated Internet Access Service (iGate), ISDN PRI, and PABX services, in support of Mayor Arman Dimaguila Jr.’s greater vision of a robust and reliable ICT infrastructure for Biñan by year’s end.
The mayor’s specifications called for the use of PLDT’s renowned fiber optic service to attract more Information Technology and Business Process Management firms to the city, as well as to improve Internet speed for Biñanenses.
“Assuming the Internet connection will be that fast compared to other countries, it will be easier for Biñanenses to be at par with the citizens of other nations. Services provided by the government could also therefore improve,” Dimaguila said.
At the contract signing, Dimaguila added that the local government’s greater focus on technology stems from the need to be more mobile-first and Internet-savvy. “By enhancing our capability to (be) reached by the people, it will speed up public service,” he remarked.
Assistant Vice President and Head of Corporate Relationship Management Dick Perez was optimistic about PLDT ALPHA’s role in enabling the city’s growth saying, “Our team knew what was necessary for the mayor’s plans of developing Biñan. This allowed us to provide strategically curated digital technologies and solutions that will power the city’s transformation.”
This partnership was the latest in a series of projects that PLDT ALPHA undertook to help enhance government services.
“We’re glad to help Biñan optimize its operations and communications as it seizes greater opportunities for development. This is only the beginning of the partnership, and we are optimistic for the futures of both PLDT and the City of Biñan,” said Vice President and Head of PLDT ALPHA Vic Tria.
