2 cops held for extort try

MANILA, Philippines - Two Caloocan policemen were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly attempting to extort P100,000 from a drug suspect’s partner in exchange for his release.

Police Officers 2 Christian Geronimo and Kristoffer San Juan were caught in a sting at the office of the city police’s anti-illegal drug unit at around 4 p.m.

Northern Police District director Senior Superintendent Roberto Fajardo ordered Caloocan City police chief Senior Superintendent Johnson Almazan to stage the operation.

Geronimo and San Juan were apprehended after Laila Catamora, 27, handed them marked money for the release of her partner, Linson Amogis, 26.
