Japanese loses P.1 M at NAIA

Rudy Santos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A Japanese man lost at least P170,000 to thieves upon arriving at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 from Osaka on Wednesday.

Makoto Hasegawa’s hand-carried bag was stolen from his trolley. The bag contained $150 and 350,000 yen (approximately P162,000) as well as three credit cards, a Canon camera and his return ticket, airport police said.

The incident prompted Ed Monreal, Manila International Airport Authority general manager, to order security officials and personnel to be more vigilant in catching thieves who mix with travelers at the NAIA terminals.

He inspected the terminals yesterday and told terminal managers to be on the lookout for suspicious-looking persons.
