CEBU, Philippines - DZMM, ABS-CBN’s flagship AM radio station, continues to revolutionize its delivery of news with the launch of the noontime national newscast “Headline Pilipinas,” airing exclusively on DZMM TeleRadyo.

The announcement came as a welcome surprise during the station’s 30th anniversary celebration held recently at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City. The celebration of three decades of DZMM was attended by past and present anchors, reporters and employees of DZMM 630, who became part of the station that was established in 1986 at the end of Martial Law.

ABS-CBN Integrated News & Current Affairs Head Ging Reyes said their latest program offering is a part of DZMM’s continuous evolution to keep Filipinos updated on things that matter to them and to help them make informed decisions in their day-to-day lives.

“We are building upon the gains of TeleRadyo by transforming it into a nationwide platform. This way, DZMM continues to be relevant to our news audiences. Expect stronger programming, more current affairs content, and a fusion of style and substance that will continue to improve as technology evolves and as we become more and more present in the digital space,” she said.

“Headline Pilipinas,” a stand-alone program on DZMM’s news channel on television, TeleRadyo, will be helmed by veteran broadcast journalist

Tony Velasquez, together with ABS-CBN Cebu’s Leo Lastimosa and ABS-CBN Davao’s Melanie Severino. They will deliver the latest and most relevant news gathered from all over the country, giving voice to Filipinos from different regions across the country.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN President and Chief Executive Officer Carlo Katigbak stressed the station’s strong commitment to public service, highlighting DZMM’s many public service programs, including the Teaching Learning Caring (TLC) classroom and clinic-on-wheels that served victims of calamities in the past years.

“We have two larger goals: the first is to stay relevant to our audience and continue to deliver useful information that matter to them by the people that matter to them; our second goal is to fulfill our mission to be in the service of the Filipino people,” Katigbak said.

“It means we’re not just journalists and nation builders. We are also advocates that champion the causes that are closest to our values as an organization.  It means that we need to help find solutions to the problems that we discuss on air,” he further added.

Charo Santos-Concio, host of “MMK sa DZMM” and ABS-CBN Chief Content Officer said, “maraming dapat ipagdiwang at ipagsalamat kagaya ng inyong husay, sipag, at tibay sa loob ng 30 taon na siyang dahilan bakit patuloy na nagbabaga ang tungkulin nating magsilbi at tumulong sa ating kapamilya.”

Meanwhile, Reyes led a “who’s who” list of attendees at the station’s anniversary party, which featured production numbers by singers Jona, Morissette, Kyla, Imelda Papin, Rico J. Puno, Darren Espanto, Arnel Pineda, Noel Cabangon, Jed Madela and actor Piolo Pascual, who sang in DZMM’s latest station ID.

DZMM’s 30th anniversary celebration continues with the airing of a documentary titled “30/360”: Kuwento ng DZMM,” which tells of the station’s beginnings, challenges and its coverage of some of the biggest news and events in Philippine history, as told by DZMM anchors and reporters in the past three decades.
