88 drug rehab centers put up in Central Luzon
SAN FERNANDO, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has put up 88 rehabilitation centers for drug dependents in Central Luzon during the first 100 days of the Duterte administration.
Called Bahay Pagbabago, these rehabilitation centers will treat suspected drug users and pushers as “residents not law offenders,” said Superintendent Donato Bait, PNP deputy chief for regional operations.
Bait said the centers offer moral recovery programs and skills training for drug surrenderees.
He said 59 other drug rehabilitation centers are under construction.
Bait said the regional police had conducted 2,293 anti-drug operations since July, resulting in the arrest of 1,057 suspected drug users and 2,349 pushers.?? ?
He said 33.2 kilos of shabu, 43.6 kilos of marijuana and 2.46 kilos of cocaine with an estimated value of P10 million as well as over 300 assorted firearms were seized.
