CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) is set to promote Cebu's investment opportunities to investors and businessmen in Hiroshima City, Japan, following an invitation from the Hiroshima Philippines Friendship Society (HPFS) to the Philippine Business Seminar. The HPFS board has invited CCCI, through its President Melanie Ng, to do a presentation on the business climate in Cebu as this is a topic of high interest among HPFS members as well as Hiroshima-based businesses that signified their intention.

According to HPFS, the keen interest of Japanese companies on Cebu in particular is evident.

Ng said CCCI officers will be talking about Cebu’s business climate and various business opportunities with CCCI members.

Essentially, Ng said the presentation is aimed at "selling" Cebu to companies and investors based in Hiroshima and the surrounding region.

We hope that this presentation, coupled with those from the banking and government aspects, will result to an outstanding information seminar package that will generate a lot of interest among Japanese businesses based in Hiroshima, Ng said.

The event is slated on November 7 at the conference hall of Hiroshima Bank. It will be a business seminar with speakers from the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo (international trade office) to discuss trade, investment, industrial technology and agribusiness promotion, generation and development.

Another speaker invited is Japanese manager of the Tokyo office of the Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company.

CCCI officers led by Ng will also be joined by the Philippine Embassy representatives, who will tackle reforms and opportunities for business under the Duterte administration and a speaker from Metrobank to discuss financing and investment figures (import-export).

Ng said CCCI will highlight the sunshine industries in Cebu by introducing the various business sectors in which Japanese investors can be involved in and why Cebu is becoming a choice for foreign investors from different countries.

Likewise HPFS is planning to organize a group of interested businessmen and company representatives to visit Cebu next year. (FREEMAN)
