Mitsubishi ramps up production

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) is ramping up its production capacity by operating two shifts in its Laguna manufacturing facilities by November.

MMPC said the move is in response to the local auto industry’s continuous growth, particularly in the light commercial vehicle segment, which translated to significant boost in demand for its L300 and Adventure models.

In addition, the company said its participation in the government’s Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) program will pave the way for the introduction of the Mirage models in its production line starting next year.

To support the increase in production activities, MMPC said it hired an additional 500 employees for the two-shift production operations.

The addition of the Mirage model in the production line next year will increase MMPC’s production output to 39,000 units, which is a 47 percent increase from this year’s production volume of 26,470 units.

MMPC’s Sta. Rosa manufacturing plant has a capacity of 50,000 units annually.

The firm said working on two shift production operations would be a challenge since it has been more than two decades since MMPC has operated a full-swing, two-shift production operations in its former plant in Cainta, Rizal.
