CAMPI welcomes Foton Motors as newest member

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s largest automotive group has welcomed its newest member in Foton Motors Philippines Inc.

Foton Philippines president Rommel Sytin said the company’s application as member of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) has been given the go signal last month.

Foton is the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in China and the second largest in Asia.

In the Philippines, Foton is ranked second in sales when it comes to light duty truck segment.

The company in February this year opened its new P1.2-billion assembly plant in Clark, Pampanga which has a full annual capacity of 12,000 units.

Foton Philippines sold 3,892 units across its entire product line-up last year and sales this year is eyed to increase to 5,500 units.

CAMPI is a group of automotive companies with assembly operations in the Philippines.
Its members include automotive giants such as Toyota, Mitsubishi Nissan, Isuzu and Honda.

As of end-July, CAMPI sales have reached 197,448 units, a 26.5-percent improvement from 156,034 units in the same period last year.
