Warning issued on fake anti-tetanus products

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A pharmaceutical firm has warned the public on the proliferation of a fake anti-tetanus product in the market under its name.

International Trading Inc., distributor of Sharjvax, asked the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to trace the manufacturer of the counterfeit product.

“We have come at this juncture to inform the public that our product tetanus anti-toxin1500 IU (ATS) with the brand name Sharjvax and registered with the FDA is being tampered with, adulterated, counterfeited and produced by still unknown source,” Sahar spokesman Mack Macalanggan said.

“The culprit is also using the same FDA registration number assigned to our product. And we still don’t know the extent of the possible effect on one’s health if this fake product is administered to a patient,” Macalanggan said.

Sahar asked the public, especially private and government hospitals, to buy it only from known sources and distributors identified by the company.

“The identity of the culprit who are distributing the adulterated and fake ATS was already brought to our attention.
