ABS-CBN names Santos new COO for Creatives

MANILA, Philippines – Multimedia firm ABS-CBN Corp. has named Malou Santos as chief operating officer (COO) for Star Creatives in line with its goal to maintain its leadership in the entertainment industry.

In a statement ABS-CBN said Santos’ appointment would take effect on Feb.15.

As COO, Santos will be responsible for leadership, management, and vision of Star Creatives so ABS-CBN can continue to dominate the entertainment industry through the production of high-caliber films, primetime drama, and multi-platform Filipino music.

She will also continue to strengthen ABS-CBN’s music arm Star Music, through live events production, radio programming, and artist development and management.

Under Santos’ leadership, Star Cinema cemented its position as the leading film studio in the country.

Star Cinema has dominated the local box office as it produced the top 10 highest-grossing Filipino movies of all time.

It also expanded its distribution system by catering even to overseas Filipinos.

Santos is also a principal player in the success of ABS-CBN’s TV programs.

ABS-CBN topped nationwide television ratings last year with its average audience share of 43 percent from both urban and rural homes, based on data from Kantar Media.
