Cavite taps PLDT for free Internet
MANILA, Philippines – The local government of Cavite has tapped Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) for the rollout of free Internet to residents.
PLDT said in a statement yesterday its corporate business group PLDT Alpha Enterprise has been tasked to provide services for the local government’s extensive wireless access program.
Cavite’s Wireless Access Program uses both fiber optic network and TVwhite space technology to expand the province’s access to broadband Internet connectivity.
The program was launched in the following pilot areas: the cities of Bacoor, Dasmariñas and Imus, and the municipalities of Silang, General Trias, Rosario and Tanza.
The program also provides free Wi-Fi access in the provincial capitol compound in Trece Martires City, as well as selected public areas such as barangay halls, public schools and universities.
The program forms part of the local government’s efforts to improve the delivery of public services.
It likewise supports the launch of the local government’s web and mobile applications LINKod Kabitenyo, which will enable its constituents, students, investors, tourists, and visitors with access to e-services and relevant information including provincial announcements, traffic updates, emergency hotlines, local price watch, job vacancies, and guide for tourism.
