Resorts World inks deal with Hotel Okura

MANILA, Philippines - Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. has sealed a deal with Japanese hotel chain Okura Hotels & Resorts to bring the latter’s hotel brand in the upcoming $1.1-billion Bayshore City Resorts World along Manila Bay.

Hotel Okura Manila, which will rise in Pagcor’s Entertainment City, will be Okura’s first hotel development in the Philippines.

Okura is currently embarking on an overseas development strategy focused on developing Asian markets.

The Japanese hotel chain has launched in 2011 and 2012 five-star hotels in Macau and Bangkok, respectively.

The planned construction site for Okura Bayshore City Resorts World will cover approximately 38,000 square meters and will offer approximately 380 guest rooms.

Resorts World Bayshore City Inc. (RWBCI) is the owner and operator of Bayshore City Resorts World.

Travellers, a joint venture of property tycoon Andrew Tan’s Alliance Global Group Inc. and Malaysia’s Genting Hong Kong Ltd., owns 95 percent of RWBCI.

Bayshore City Resorts World will be the last integrated resort complex scheduled to start operations in Entertainment City.

The integrated resort complex will have at least 1,500 hotel rooms to be managed and operated by other international hotel brands that include The Westin Hotel Manila Bayshore of Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels & Resorts and the Genting Grand and Crockfords Tower of the Genting Group.

Aside from the branded hotels, the project will also include a 3,000-seater grand opera house and a commercial complex with retail component that will have department stores, food and beverage outlets, cinemas, and entertainment and gaming facilities.

Bayshore City Resorts World has already commenced site development and is expected to open by the fourth quarter of 2018.

The project’s initial phase of development is scheduled to start within the year and would cover less than a third of the area of the 31-hectare Bayshore City Resorts World development.
