OpenSignal: Globe fastest internet provider in Phl

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Globe Telecom provides the best internet speed in the Philippines based on wireless coverage mapping provided by OpenSignal, the company announced on Friday.

Globe said Philippine download statistics from OpenSignal showed that Globe's downlink speed in 10 selected cities in the country reached an average of 2.4 megabits per second, faster than its competitors' average of 1.21 mbps and 0.84 mbps, respectively. The cities surveyed included Manila, Quezon, Caloocan, Davao, Cebu, General Santos, Taguig, Pasig, Antipolo and Zamboanga.

Meanwhile, upload statistics showed that Globe's average uplink speed of 1.37 mbps was faster than its competitors' 0.98 mbps and 0.42 mbps, respectively.

“These findings reflect the superior network quality and performance that we aimed for through our modernization initiative. We will continue to optimize our already modernized network in line with our commitment of further advancing our network infrastructure to enable us to stay ahead of our customers’ growing demand for bandwidth,” Globe President and Chief Executive Officer Ernest Cu said.

The listed firm posted P7.6 billion in profits for the first half of the year, soaring by 18 percent from the P6.4 billion it posted in the same period last year.
