Peso weakens by 31 centavos

MANILA, Philippines - The peso capped the week in the red after plunging against the dollar on Friday, closing at 43.77 from the previous day's 43.46.

Total volume transacted at the Philippine Dealing System amounted to $883.7 billion, higher than the $844.25 billion posted on Thursday.

The peso opened Friday at 43.65.
