MANILA, Philippines - The local affiliate of direct selling firm Amway Corp., expects its sales to grow by 24 percent next year from this year as it sees sustained demand for existing products amid strong economic growth and as it introduces new products in the market.
“Growth rate (in sales) currently is 24 percent from last year. For next year, we expect about the same growth rate because momentum is already there,” Amway Philippines country manager Leni Olmedo said in a press conference yesterday.
The Philippines positive economic performance, she said, is seen to help support the firm’s growth in sales with demand seen to continue and even pick-up.
She noted that demand for the firm’s vitamin and mineral brand Nutrilite, is seen to help support growth in sales next year amid increasing awareness among Filipinos to take care of their health.
“In the Philippines there is growing awareness for good health and Nutrilite is there to supplement diet,” she said.
Amway’s facial skin care and color cosmetics brand Artisty, she said, is likewise seen to help the firm achieve higher sales next year.
“Beauty is one of the biggest market in the Philippines,” she said.
She said new products such as Achievers 3-in-1 coffee mix and Achievers premium cocoa mix by coffee chain Figaro Coffee Co., as well as Amway’s own perfume line, Carnival, would also support growth in sales next year.
As Amway is looking to achieve higher sales next year, she said the firm is planning to increase its distributors.
Amway currently has 60,000 distributors nationwide, with the bulk or 60 percent in Metro Manila.
Olmedo said an increase in distributors is expected in Mindanao as its distribution center in Cagayan de Oro recently moved to a bigger site and as the firm plans to open a new distribution facility in Davao.
Apart from the locations in Mindanao, Amway has distribution centers in Makati City, Mandaluyong City, Cebu, and Urdaneta City in Pangasinan.
Amway offers a wide range of personal care, home care and agricultural products.
