Russian embassy celebrates National Day

Russian Ambassador Igor Khovaev, and his wife Maria Ilina recently hosted a cocktail reception at the Rizal Ballroom of Shangri-La Makati in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Day of Russia. Distinguished members of the diplomatic corps, noted businessmen and other VIPs enjoyed the evening’s array of superb cuisine as well as each other’s company. Under President Duterte’s administration, the Philippines and Russia continue to enjoy friendly relations and warm diplomatic ties. Congratulations to the Russian Embassy for a successful celebration!
An evening aboard the Varyag
Russian Ambassador Igor Khovaev recently hosted a dinner reception on board the Varyag, which was docked at Pier 15 of Manila South Harbor. The Varyag is a Slava-class cruiser built in 1979, launched in 1983 and commissioned in 1989. At the reception, a band of Russian sailors performed some Russian songs, to the delight of the guests from the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Philippines. Everyone in attendance had a marvelous time touring the Russian Pacifi c Fleet’s fl agship, as well as learning more about the ins and outs of a navy cruiser. Thank you to Ambassador Khovaev and his hardworking staff for an enjoyable evening!
