Fashion and fusion in Davao

BUSINESS CHIC - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

MARCO POLO DAVAO RECENTLY launched its 18th anniversary Kadayawan Festival activities at its main lobby. Mindanao’s first and only premier hotel kicked off the event with a fashion show featuring the wonderful creations of the newly-founded Davao Fashion De- sign Council (DFDC). Marco Polo Davao general manager Dottie Wurgler-Cronin and director of sales and marketing Pearl Peralta-Maclang welcomed the members of the Hijos de Davao Foundation, the City Tourism Office, Davao City’s diplomatic corps, Department of Tourism, and other special guests to the event that had “Festive at 18” for its theme. DFDC president Aztec Barba said the garments featured at the Kadayawan Fashion and Fusion project were inspired by the 11 flavors from the 11 tribes of Davao. After the fashion show, Halifax Davao Hotel, Inc. president Francis Ledesma, Kadayawan 2016 co-chairperson Arturo Boncato, Jr., Malaysian consul Ab- dul Zawawi Tahir, and acting consul general of the Indonesian Consulate Endah Yuliarti, unveiled the Presidential Plaque of President Rodrigo Duterte to the guests.

Marco Polo Davao gets five-star rating

MARCO POLO DAVAO was recently awarded by the Department of Tourism (DOT) with its five-star plaque, an award that reaffirms Marco Polo Davao’s leadership in the south as a five-star hotel. For the past 17 years, Mindanao’s first and only premier hotel continues to live up to its distinct elegance and rare brand of Asian hospitality and western comforts. Halifax Davao Hotel Inc. president Francis Ledesma received the prestigious award for the hotel with general manager Dottie Wurgler-Cronin and director of sales and marketing Pearl Peralta-Maclang witnessing the historic occasion.
