MANILA, Philippines — In celebration of its 1000th store in Triangle Drive corner 39th Street in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), fast food chain Jollibee recently announced its P10 million investment for the benefit of 1,000 young farmers.

The company, said Jollibee Group Foundation Executive Director Gisela Tiongson, has not only become a part of Filipino culture, but also of Filipino lives, thus, it recognizes the importance of sustaining the country’s agriculture industry.

“For agriculture to be sustainable, we need the youth to be continuously engaged in farming,” Tiongson said.

Building on the success of the foundation’s Farmer Entrepreneurship Program, the company partnered with government and non-government agencies to train 1,000 youth farmers in agro-enterprise management.

In front of guests like former Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban and Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, Jollibee Foods Corp. Chairman Tony Tan Caktiong handed a symbolic check of the company’s P10-million-peso donation for the education of 1,000 young Filipino farmers.

The 1000th store is the food chain’s sixth branch in BGC and 16th in Taguig City. It features the latest Jollibee store design with a tropical vibe, a 27-feet-long drive thru mural with Filipino elements like the Philippine eagle, the carabao, and the Sarimanok; a 350-seating capacity, and the food chain’s first ever interactive digital table for kids.
