At the launch of AXA’s partnership with NBA Philippines recently, Rahul Hora, AXA Philippines president and CEO, said, “In our hashtag #AXAwhatsyourgameplan, we really feel that Filipinos should give us an opportunity to share with them how a financial plan can be beneficial to them. The importance of a coach, even if your are doing extremely well — like in the game of basketball — even if your are at the height of your success, a coach is always there to guide you. And that is where we want to position ourselves — as qualified coaches to help people develop their best financial plan.”

Thus, the partnership with AXA, a leading global insurance provider, and the National Basketball Association (NBA), the number one basketball league in the world, was born. 

NBA Philippines managing director Carlo Singson and Hora announced the partnership, joined by Brooklyn Nets center and 2013 NBA All-Star Brook Lopez.

As part of the tie-up, AXA Philippines will serve as the Presenting Partner of NBA 3X Philippines, a 3-on-3 tournament featuring men’s and women’s teams from all over the country and authentic NBA entertainment. AXA Philippines will also support the Jr. NBA Philippines, the league’s youth basketball program for boys and girls, by providing travel insurance for participants embarking on an overseas NBA experience trip later this year. 

“At AXA, we believe in assisting our clients in helping them make the right financial decisions by offering innovative solutions, similar to how an NBA coach helps his team win games,” added Hora. “This partnership with the NBA highlights common principles between our companies: teamwork, integrity, courage, innovation and now, the foresight for our customers to power up their game plan, not just on the physical playing field, but also on the hard court that is life.”

Hora shared that with the Philippine economy doing well at this time, more people therefore have a little more disposable income. And, when people have more money, they often need a guide as to what they can do best with that extra money to make it work for them in the future.

“This is where they will need someone in their lives who will help them do a financial plan,” he adds. “This is the expertise of AXA.”

Hora also presented other plans that AXA offers aside from life insurance; there are death and health insurance packages, too.

“Health insurance is very important nowadays because there are more illnesses that come with our fast-paced lives, and being prepared for an unexpected illness is important,” he added. “If people today want to have a long, healthy life, they can change their lifestyle and equally important is to be prepared with funds to address any illnesses should one arise. This is where AXA comes in.”
