Asian finds for your home at Festival Supermall

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - When looking for inspiration to style your home, turn to Asia, a culturally diverse continent rich in design ideas. From the clean lines and Zen aesthetics of Japan, to rich Persian rugs that add a pop of color to a room, to exotic Balinese or even Filipiniana accessories, Asia has so much to offer in terms of design.

Festival Supermall in Alabang, Muntinlupa City gives these style tips to transform your home into an Asian paradise. With selections from over 700 stores for the home and beyond, the mall offers everything you need for a lovely, balanced Asian home.

The mall has tapped interior designer Peaches de Guzman-Grey of Designs Grey Co. to give your home a stylish Asian flair.

Naturally beautiful. Asian design is mostly rooted in creating a natural, balanced environment, so opt for pieces made of natural materials such as rugs from Majeid’s Carpets (P3,000 to P4,500, depending on size). Made of Philippine-grown abaca but crafted in Belgium, the rugs give a clean feel to any room. The neutral color is also a great backdrop to any furniture piece.

Sit like a taipan. Asian design is also noted for its clean, uncomplicated lines, as seen in the Tau dining banquet set by Nicol Concepts (P79,000). The set imitates the traditional Japanese style dining area with a low table and seating. The set can also be used as living room seating and, because it is made of waterproof wood and plastic composite, lanai seating. Bright pops of orangey red also give the piece a more contemporary twist.

A rare touch of class. If you have the spending power, splurge on rare, hard-to-find items such as this Persian rug from Majeid’s Carpets (price available upon request). Made of handmade silk, the rug can be a conversation piece. The vibrant colors also add an extra dimension, especially if used with neutrals. You can use this as a wall accent for your living room or bedroom.

Add some local flavor. For homes with a more Filipiniana flavor, this drop-down desk from Renditions (P33,150) is a perfect addition. Proudly Filipino made using wood sourced from the countryside, the piece is a great combination of modern and traditional. Its many drawers offer a lot of storage for the living room. You can also pull the top part down and convert it into a work or study desk.

Invest in accessories. Little details make or break any room as they give the space a more lived-in feel. Invest in great accent pieces from stores such as Indo Treasures at the mall’s Treasure Trove. Mix and match details from different styles such as Balinese, Thai, Filipiniana, and more to make a truly unique space.

Whatever style you fancy for your home, Festival Supermall has it all. Choose among the vast array of furnishings and home accessories from Nouveau Design, Urban Concepts, Markline, Cadi, CMY, Entia, City Matress, AJ Koncept, Sense and Style, La Sedia, Home Bazaar, Sylpaul Joyce, Antiques Fair, Live With It, Décor Riel, Showcase Carpets, Happy Mats, Furniture Republic.
