MANILA, Philippines – Three people were killed when a fire hit a residential area in Laguna province early today, a high ranking police official said.
Police spokesman Agrimero Cruz said the victims included two police officers.
He said around 40 shanties were razed to the ground when a fire of still an unknown origin hit Sta. Cruz town around 7:40 a.m.
The victims’ charred bodies were recovered by rescuers after the fire was declared under control at 8:30 a.m.
The victims were identified as Mara Maglipon, Carlito Maglipon, a retired policeman; and Police Officer Francisco Maglipon of the Sta. Cruz Municipal Police Station.
