Philippines, Argentina hold 1st bilateral consultations

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - The Philippines and Argentina have conducted their first bilateral consultations focusing on ways of improving economic relations and possible technical cooperation in the fields of agriculture and renewable energy, the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said today.

The first Philippine-Argentina Bilateral Consultation Mechanism was held in Buenos Aires on May 30, the department said.

"The Philippine and Argentine delegations focused their discussions on ways of improving economic relations, such as on trade and investment missions, as well as possible technical cooperation on such fields as agriculture and renewable energy," the DFA said.

Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Erlinda Basilio, head of the Philippine delegation in the consultation, proposed separate bilateral agreements on culture, education and sports in the future as well as cooperation on the promotion of the study of the Spanish language.
