'Look-a-like of Maguindanao massacre suspect languishing in jail'

MANILA, Philippines – A herbal doctor has been languishing in jail for almost two months now after he was mistakenly arrested as one of the accused in the Maguindanao massacre case, Gov. Esmael "Toto" Mangudadatu claimed today.

He said Ramon Dadula, a herbal doctor from Bohol, was nabbed by Sarangani police some time in October or November because he looked like Malaguial Tanurin, one of the members of the Civilian Volunteer Organization (CVO) of the Ampatuans.

Tanurin has a P250,000 bounty for his arrest.

"They were almost identical that's why he was invited by the police," Mangudadatu said.

He added that authorities already have evidence that Dadula is not the man they were looking for but failed to release him without a court order.

"That's why I urge the arresting officer to give a statement or withdraw the charges in order for him to be released from detention," the governor said.
