Dolce & Gabbana design in all white

MILAN (AP) — For spring-summer 2011, Dolce & Gabbana did what they do best, perfectly.

Going against the current of colorful casual styles that are all over the Milan runway, they came up with a sexy collection in pure white.

On hand to applaud their efforts were front row guests singer Kylie Minogue, actress Jada Pinkett Smith and top model Naomi Campbell.

Doing what earned them fashion fame several decades ago, Dolce & Gabbana turned underwear into outerwear, in a collection inspired by the wedding trousseau of a Sicilian bride.

Like spirits coming out of a yesteryear trunk, the models walked down the runway in lacy gowns, bloomers and corsets reminiscent of turn of the century fashion.

The floor length linen dresses are stitched together with lace inserts, and cut outs to create a demure, romantic look. By evening the same style becomes an elegant gown when sparkling rhinestone beading is added.

The corset and bloomer look has always been a Dolce & Gabbana favorite, but this round romance wins over raunch, making the look almost maiden-like.

For their grande finale the designing duo sent out a bevy of models all dressed in identical white corset outfits, like a line up in a beauty pageant.

The message was brilliantly clear: white is beautiful.
