MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - President Arroyo has received the enrolled 2010 budget bill from Congress and will sign it within 30 days, after proper review by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said on Wednesday.
Ermita said in his weekly news briefing that following the practice, the president referred the bill to the DBM "for study and recommendations within 30 days".
"The (DBM) will have to take a look at what had been approved or slashed or added to it by both houses of Congress ," Ermita said, adding that the proposed P1.54 trillion ($33.63 billion) budget bill transmitted to Malacanang is different from the one earlier submitted by Malacanang to Congress.
"If today is January 13, it is correct to expect that on or before February 13, the DBM shall submit their recommendation, if it is okay or not okay, what among the line items should be vetoed or not vetoed. That will be carefully studied before the president signs it," he said.
