COTABATO CITY, Philippines (Xinhua) – Two people were injured after an improvised bomb exploded near a public market in Sultan Kudarat province last night, police said today.
The explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device, fashioned from a 60-milimeter mortar, which was left unattended near the public market in Lebak town, Sultan Kudarat, Army spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Ponce said.
He said the military suspected that rogue members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) were behind the blast.
It was the third bombing in Mindanao this week. Two previous explosions resulted in four injures.
