MANILA, Philippines – Speaker Prospero Nograles has assured anti-Charter Change groups that he will reject any moves to include term extension in discussing Constitutional amendments by the House of Representatives.
"I will not allow it (term extension). Not in my watch," Nograles said in a radio interview today.
He reiterated that lawmakers will only take up the economic provisions of the Charter to pump up investments in the country.
Nograles said deposed President Joseph Estrada is for Cha-cha but merely opposes the term extension for public officials, including President Arroyo.
The House Speaker also said congressmen will not touch the shift from presidential form of government to parliamentary system.
