MANILA, Philippines – Kasunod ng pagkakakumpirma sa kaniya ng Commission on Appointments (CA), pinalawig ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang termino ni Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff General Rey Leonardo Guerrero.
Sinabi ni presidential spokesperson Harry Roque ngayong Huwebes na nilagdaan ni Duterte ang extension ni Guerrero na nabigyan pa ng anim na buwan para pamunuan ang AFP.
Aabot nasa mandatory retirement si Guerrero sa Disyembre 17 kaya naman pinalawig pa ng pangulo ang kaniyang termino hanggang Abril 24, 2018.

Kahapon lamang ay nalusutan ni Guerrero ang CA at pagkatapos nito ay dumiretso na siya sa mass oath taking sa Malacanang.
Pinalitan ng Philippine Military Academy Class of 1984 graduate si Gen. Eduardo Año na nagretiro nitong Oktubre 26.
