PNP balik drug war

MANILA, Philippines — Muling ibinalik ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang Philippine National Police (PNP) sa kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga matapos niyang suspendihin ang operasyon nito sa pangalawang pagkakakataon.
Sinabi ni presidential spokesman Harry Roque na may nilagdaang memorandum si Duterte upang bigyang suporta ng PNP ang Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency na kasalukuyang nangunguna sa programa.
"Now, this supersedes the earlier memorandum that designated the PDEA as the sole agency that will deal with the anti-illegal drug operations. Take note though that the language of the memorandum is that they will resume, I quote, 'They will resume, providing active support in the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, in the conduct of anti-illegal drug operations,'" pahayag ni Roque.
"Meaning, PDEA remains the lead but the PNP will again participate in the anti-illegal drug operations," dagdag niya.
Aniya kailangan munang makipag-ugnayan ng PNP sa PDEA sa mga operasyon.
“If Tokhang will be implemented by the PNP, I supposed that they will have coordination with PDEA,” patuloy ng tagapagsalita. “That is the marching order of the president.”
Itinalaga ni Duterte ang PDEA bilang “sole agency” na mamamahala sa war on drugs nitong Oktubre 11 matapos mabatikos ang PNP dahil sa sunud-sunod na pagkasawi ng mga teenager, partikular sa Caloocan City.
Unang tinanggalan ng kapangyarihan ang PNP nitong Enero dahil sa pagpaslang sa Korean businessman sa loob ng Camp Crame.
Ikinatuwa naman ng PDEA ang ideya ng pagbabalik ng PNP sa drug war lalo na’t aminado silang kulang ang kanilang pwersa.
