Petisyon vs drug war sa SC, isang destabilisasyon – Calida

MANILA, Philippines — Ipinagtanggol ni Solicitor General Jose Calida ang kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ngayong Martes sa Korte Suprema.

Sinabi ni Calida na isang destabilisasyon ang pagkukwestyon sa drug war ng administrasyon kung saan marami na ang namatay.

"It is…not difficult to see that the present petitions are disingenuous moves to destabilize the Duterte administration and sow anarchy," bungad ng Solicitor General sa mataas na hukuman.

Umabot na sa higit 6,000 ang deaths under investigation ng Philippine National Police mula noong Hunyo 2016, habang sinasabi naman ng human rights group na pumalo na ang bilang ng mga nasawi sa 13,000.

Sinabi ni Calida na nakasalalay ang kinabukasan ng bansa sa hatol ng Korte Suprema kung naaayon ba sa Saligang Batas ang madugong drug war.

"The resolution by the Honorable Court of the legality of the drug war will define the future of this nation. The Court cannot, and should not, be swayed by the meretricious arguments of the petitions," wika ni Calida.

"What the petitioners therefore want is a country mired in drug addiction, where lawlessness and anarchy hold sway," dagdag niya.
