Pagbuo ng Department of Migrant Workers, pinaaaprub sa Senado
MANILA, Philippines — Hiniling ni Sen. Joel Villanueva na aprubahan ng Senado ang panukalang pagbuo ng Department for Migrant Workers (DMW) upang suportahan ang nabuong kasunduan sa pagitan ng mga head of states na dumalo sa 31st ASEAN Summit.
Sinabi ni Sen. Villanueva, ang nilagdaang ASEAN Consensus on the Protection and Promotion of Rights of Migrant Workers ay isang magandang panimulang hakbang upang protektahan ang mga migrant workers kabilang na ang Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
“This agreement will definitely benefit our OFWs. Truly, there is a need to do so especially since we are in an era where our countrymen have increasingly chosen to work abroad,” ani Villanueva, chairman ng Senate committee on labor, employment and human resources development.
Aniya, ang panukalang pagtatayo ng Department of Migrant Workers ay solong nakatutok sa mga pangangailangan ng mga OFW’s na “eliminating bureaucracy in OFW assistance.”
“With the recently signed ASEAN consensus, we are confident that our efforts and advocacies in the legislative department would be given adequate attention for the sake of providing sustainable future for our citizens here and abroad,” giit pa ng mambabatas.
Dagdag ni Villanueva, ang counterpart bill nito ay nakabinbin sa komite level ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso.
