Senate majority pinaiimbestigahan ang pagkamatay ni Kian

MANILA, Philippines — Kinondena ng Senate majority bloc ang pagkasawi ng 17-anyos na senior high school student ng Caloocan City sa patuloy na kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga ng gobyerno.
Nagpulong kagabi ang mga senador kung saan nilagdaan din nila ang isang resolusyon upang imbestigahan ang pagpaslang ng mga pulis kay Kian delos Santos at ang iba pang patayan na naganap sa bansa.
“Now therefore, be it resolved, as it is hereby resolved by the Senate, to express its condemnation against the recent spate of abuses by the police resulting in excessive and unnecessary deaths in the conduct of the campaign against illegal drugs,” nakasaad sa resolusyon.
“And to direct the appropriate senate committee to inquire and review the conduct of anti-drug operations by the PNP as well as capacitating the PNP as an institution to hold erring officials within their ranks liable for commission of any crime or offense,” dagdag nito.
Bukod sa pagkamatay ni delos Santos ay naalarma rin ang mga senador sa dami ng mga umano’y adik na nasawi sa loob ng isang araw, kabilang ang 32 nasawi sa “one-time big-time” operation sa Bulacan.
Naging malaking usap-usapan ang pagkasawi ng teenager ng Caloocan City dahil ayon sa mga pulis ay nanlaban ang biktima ngunit iba ang nakita sa closed circuit television cameras.
“Whereas, in conducting the campaign of the Duterte administration against illegal drugs, the government must always ensure that no innocent lives are unnecessarily lost and that those within the ranks of the police or any government agency should be held fully accountable for any crime offense,” nakasaad pa sa resolusyon.
Kabilang sa mga lumagda sa resolusyon sina Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, Senate Majority Leader Vicente Sotto III, at Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto.
