Marawi death toll 44 na

MANILA, Philippines — Pumalo na sa 44 katao ang nasawi sa ikaapat na araw ng bakbakan ng mga mga awtoridad at Maute group sa Marawi City.

Sinabi Brig. Gen. Rolando Joselito Bautista, commander ng Joint Task Force ZamPeLan na 31 ang nasawi sa hanay ng Maute habang 11 ang sundalo at dalawang pulis.

"As of this report, 31 terrorists were already neutralized and six high-powered firearms were recovered by the troops," pahayag ni Bautista.

Kahapon ay tumagal ng dalawang oras ang bakbakan sa dalawang tulay patungong Bangulo, dagdag ni Bautista.

Samantala, sinabi naman ni Westmincom chief Lt. Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr. na 16 katao ang nailigtas sa kanilang clearing operation sa Barangay Kilala.

"We will exhaust all efforts to crush the remaining Maute members so that the people of Marawi City can go back to their homes the soonest," ani Galvez.

“Any information will contribute to the neutralization of these agents of deaths and destruction," dagdag niya.

Nasa ilalim ng martial law ang buong Mindanao matapos itong ideklara ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte nitong kamakalawa dahil sa panggugulo ng Maute group.
