Palasyo nilinaw ang pahayag ni Duterte sa mga pulis sa Espinosa rubout

MANILA, Philippines – Nilinaw ng Malacañang ang pahayag ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte tungkol sa kahihinatnan ng mga pulis na nasa likod ng pagkamatay ni Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa.

Sinabi ng Presidential Communications Office na sinusuportahan ng Pangulo ang pagsasampa ng kaso ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) sa 24 miyemrbo ng Crime Investigation and Detection Group Region 8 matapos lumabas sa imbestigasyon na rubout ang pagkakapaslang kay Espinosa at hindi shootout.

“What should be underscored is the very clear statement of the president that while he continues to adhere to the presumption of regularity in the PNP's performance of its duties, he states in no uncertain terms that he will not interfere with any legal proceeding which will be brought against some members of the police force who are suspected of wrongdoing,” paglilinaw ng Palasyo.

BASAHIN: Duterte hindi ipakukulong ang mga pulis sa Espinosa rubout

Sa kaniyang talumpati kahapon, tiniyak ni Duterte na hindi makukulong ang mga pulis na sangkot sa pagkamatay ni Espinosa. Aniya nasa pamumuno naman niya ang NBI na nasa pangangasiwa ng Department of Justice.

“The recent pronouncements of the president pertaining to the PNP, standing by his men, are critical to maintaining their high morale, with the end in view of succeeding in the anti-drug campaign,” patuloy pa ng Palasyo.

“It should not be misinterpreted to mean that the president will intervene in investigations or any legal proceedings in order to exculpate erring cops,” dagdag nila.

Nauna nang nabatikos si Duterte matapos iutos ang pagbabalik sa pwesto ni Superintendent Marvin Marcos matapos siyang sibakin ni PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa dahil sa pagtanggap umano ng drug money.

Si Marcos ang namuno sa raiding team ng CIDG-8 na nagsilbi ng search warrant sa selda ni Espinosa sa Baybay sub-provincial jail sa Leyte.

Sinabi ni Duterte na hindi niya kailangan ipaliwanag sa publiko ang pagpapabalik sa pwesto ni Marcos.
