CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Jail warden Chief Inspector Josephus Jelianggao was relieved from his office starting last week after the Bureau of Jail and Management Penology (BJMP) recovered one piece of suspected shabu in the city's facility.

BJMP Assistant Regional Director for Administration Senior Supt. Hilbert Flor confirmed that their office conducted greyhound operation at Talisay City Jail last Monday.

During the raid, they found illegal items inside the jail like electronic gadgets, existence of kubol (cubicles) and they confiscated one piece of small plastic sachet containing alleged illegal drugs.

"Maliit lang na isang sachet ang nakuha, pero kasi may mga presence sa contraband sa jail kaya na-relieve siya," Flor said.

Jelianggao served in Talisay for over one year and five months.

During his service in the city, they were able to apprehend at least four female visitors trying to sneak in illegal drugs inside the facility.

Jelianggao, who was transferred to their regional office, said his movement can also mean career advancement for him.

"Thankful pod kaayo ko sa talisay city local officials labi na ni Mayor Gullas sa support nga gi-extend niya sa Talisay city jail during my administration," he added.

Former Lapu-Lapu City Jail warden Chief Insp. Dennis Aliño took over the post in Talisay city jail effective April 6. —/GAN (FREEMAN)
