4 drug suspects slain, 15 nabbed

MANILA, Philippines -  Four persons believed to be involved in illegal drugs were killed and scores were apprehended in separate incidents in Metro Manila in the past two days.

In Caloocan City, drug suspects Celso Soriano, 58, and Carlo Allan Cab, 33, were gunned down by unidentified assailants.

Police said Soriano was walking along Barangay 171 in Bagumbong when two men on a motorcycle opened fire at around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Soriano died at the scene from gunshots to the body.

Cab was talking with his friends near his house along Rosal street in Barangay 178, Camarin when the motorcycle-riding assailants fired at him yesterday.

Senior Inspector Ilustre Mendoza, Caloocan police assistant chief, said Soriano and Cab were on the drug watchlist.

In Marikina, suspected vigilantes shot dead a drug surrenderee.

Rodel delos Reyes, 21, died on the spot from gunshots to the body.

Delos Reyes had surrendered to police under Oplan Tokhang last year, Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, director of the Eastern Police District, said.

Investigation showed that Delos Reyes was walking along 7th street in Barangay Concepcion Uno when two men on a motorcycle without license plate fired at him at around 11:45 p.m. on Thursday.

In Pasay, Jay-R Tamayo, 30, said to be a member of the Sigue-Sigue Sputnik gang, was killed by an unidentified assailant while watching television at his house along Kamagong street in Barangay 145.

Tamayo died at the scene from three gunshots to the head.

Police said Tamayo was in the barangay’s drug watchlist.

Drug stings

Police apprehended at least 15 people in anti-drug operations in Quezon City.

Anti-narcotics officers arrested four suspects after they were allegedly caught using illegal drugs at a house along Lukban street in Barangay Pasong Tamo yesterday.

They were Guiller Canlas, 20; Jonie Belison, 37; Fenrando Sazon, 29, and Benjamin Rios, 23.

Superintendent Danilo Mendoza, Talipapa police station commander, said the operatives confiscated from the suspects 13 sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P45,000, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Roel Suicon, 27; Mark Teologo, 36, and Gerald Abaja, 33, were nabbed during an operation along Banawe street in Barangay Tatalon.

The suspects allegedly yielded three sachets of shabu and stolen car parts, mostly side mirrors, according to Superintendent Christian dela Cruz, Galas police station commander.

Allan Rivas, 26, and Joseph Ureta, 35, were nabbed by police in a drug sting along Florville street in Barangay Tandang Sora.

Emerson Garcia, 23, was arrested for alleged possession of marijuana in a computer shop along F. Manalo street in Barangay Immaculate Concepcion.

A 16-year-old boy was allegedly caught with marijuana leaves after police responded to a call that a group of teenagers was engaged in a fistfight along Mazaraga street in Barangay Tatalon.

Catherine Agrimano, 29, was collared in a reported shabu session at a shanty along Cuenco street in Barangay Lourdes.

Alex Aclado, 53, and Jess Delito, 35, were arrested along Kalayaan street in Barangay Batasan.

Police said they recovered three sachets of shabu from the suspects.

Robert John Inocencio, 25, was apprehended by patrolling policemen along Scout Gandia street in Barangay Laging Handa. He allegedly yielded a sachet of shabu.

The suspects are being held by police on drug charges.
