CEBU, Philippines — "Good kids Now, Better Adults Tomorrow" ang tema sa Understanding Choices Forum alang sa Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) sa Dolores Aboitiz Children's Fund ug Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) kagahapon.

Nitambong sa maong forum ang mga representante sa ECCD Council, Association of Barangay Council presidents, Department of Social Welfare and Development-7, City ug Municipal Day Care Workers Federation presidents, NGOs ug Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.

"We need to exert more investment in this sector. It's time for us as well to improve the skills and competencies of our social workers," matud ni Dominica Chua, president ug chief operating officer sa RAFI.

Si Bise Gobernador Agnes Magpale nipresentar sa suporta sa probinsiya sa mga panginahanglan sa ECCD.

"We in the province of Cebu are really doing something for the day care center and CDW. Yes, pass the Magna Carta for the Children Development Workers. We will do the best for the children of Cebu, but with such limited resources, we are still thankful to be part of this opportunity," matud ni Magpale.

Ang ECCD nakighiusa sa mga Local Government Units ug sa 19 ka lungsod ug 108 ka barangay sa probinsiya.

"Youth is the hero of our nation, pero unsaon mani nato pag-attain? Kailangan gyud ta magtinabangay aron ma-achieve atoang goals ug masalbar ang mga issues sa panginahanglan sa ECCD," matud ni Rowena Bornia, representante sa National ECCD Council.

Gitataw sa presidente sa KIDSLIFE Foundation, Incorporation nga si Maria Gracia Ferrero nga kung mo-invest sa mga programa, angayan sab nga mo-invest sa mga panginahanglan sa mga Child Development Workers aron sakto ang ilahang pag-amuma sa mga bata.

Ang mga panginahanglan nga nasuta sa forum mao ang pag-ayo sa mga Day Care Centers, pagpadaghan sa mga CDWs ug pagpataas sa budget alang sa saktong nutrisyon, pasilidad ug panginahanglan sa mga bata lakip na sab sa mga CDWs. Sunod tuig mohatag og mga bag-ong timbangan ang ECCD sa matag distrito.

Ang mga iimplementar nga serbisyo mao ang P2,400 nga annual incentives sa CDWs, P6,000 sa mga accredited CDW ug CDC, one-time incentive sa mga CDWs nga nagtrabaho labaw na sa 25 ka tuig, feeding program ug multivitamins alang sa 5,725 ka underweight nga mga bata sa Day Care Centers.

Dungag nga iimplementar ang training para sa ECCD information system, standard manual alang sa mga CDWs, calibration and database management ug Child Care Nutrition.

Sa mensahe ni Senador Cynthia Villar nga gibasa sa iyang umagad nga si Kongresista Emmeline Aglipay-Villar nipasalig nga padayon siyang mosuporta sa pagpalambo sa maayong kahimtang alang sa mga bata ug sa mga CDWs. (BANAT NEWS)
