Napunggit sa forklift patay

CEBU, Philippines - Usa ka oiler sa barko sa usa ka shipping company nakabsan sa iyang kinabuhi human kini napunggit sa forklift nga nagdiskarga og mga kargamento sa barko.      

Tungod sa maong hitabo niluwat ang Department of Labor and Employment-7 og "cease and desist" order batok sa Cebu Arrastre and Stevedoring Services Corporation. Sumala pa sa DOLE nigawas sa ilang imbestigasyon nga daghang kalapasan ang CASSCOR nga hinungdan sa kamatayon ni Renato Remandahan, Jr., oiler sa Lite Shipping Corporation.

“From the investigation conducted by our labor laws compliance officer, we learned that an oiler of Lite Shipping Corporation crossed the pathway and was stricken by a passing forklift manned by a forklift operator of CASSCOR. The accident happened while there was unloading of cargoes," matud pa ni DOLE Tri-City Field Office Head, director Lilia Estillore.

Matud pa ni Luchel Taniza, ang information officer sa DOLE-7 nga nahitabo ang insidente pag Marso 27 apan naisyu nila ang work stoppage order niadto lang Abril 3.

Dungag pa ni Taniza nga ni-partially comply ang CASSCOR sa mga depekto nga nakita sa DOLE-7 sama sa pagbutang og strobe lights sa babaw sa forklift isip warning ngadto sa mga trabahante.

"That is why the stoppage order was partially lifted kay I think ten pa ka forklift nila ang nabutangan og strobe lights ug  naa pay other ten forklifts pa ang i- comply sa CASSCOR," matud pa ni Taniza.

Tungod sa maong hitabo, gihatagan ni DOLE-7 regional director Elias Cayanong og 15 ka adlaw sugod Abril 5 ang CASSCOR sa pagkorihir sa tanang kalapasan nga nakita sa imbestigasyon sa DOLE Occupational Safety and Health.

Matud pa ni Cayanong, ang ilang ahensiya naguol sa kamatayon sa biktima apan ang kamatayon niini malikayan unta kung gisunod lang ang mga lagda sa kaluwasan.

“Safety and health standards are non-negotiable in the workplace and there is a need to abate whatever imminent danger present there. That is why we made sure to send our labor laws compliance officer to the site to conduct thorough investigation,” matud pa ni Cayanong.

Ang DOLE-7 daghang nakitang mga kalapasan nga naglakip sa mosunod: way  DOLE-accredited safety practitioner; way first aider; way personal protective equipment (PPE); way strobe lights ang forklifts; way flagman o signal man; way emergency medicine ug uban pa. Si Cayanong mipasidaan nga ibalik nila ang work stoppage kun dili motuman ang CASSCOR sa deadline nga gihatag nila. (BANAT NEWS)
