Village chief, wife seized in Agusan

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Police are looking for a barangay chairman and his wife, who were believed seized by unidentified men in Trento, Agusan del Sur on Sunday.

Rene Carlos, 36, of Barangay Pangyan, and his wife Maribeth, 34, were last seen leaving their home to supposedly meet a group of men who wanted to talk to them, according to town police chief Senior Inspector Melvin Rufon.

The couple failed to return home.

Police are validating reports that a group of armed men are holding the couple captive.
