MANILA, Philippines - Savvy haberdasher to Manila’s gilded set, Bergamo president and CEO Mel Meer recently treated clients and friends to an elegant afternoon of jazz music and sparkling bubbly at Bergamo’s flagship shop at Greenbelt 5.
“Our first shop was in Greenbelt 1. Now, we are back in Greenbelt with a better and bigger store at our flagship store in Greenbelt 5,” declares Roland Magalang, Bergamo VP for operations.
The fashion house’s well-heeled clientele enjoyed vint wine and champagne and delicious hors d’ouevres while being entertained by the soothing music provided by saxophonist du jour Dr. Michael Young. Guests were also treated to a fashion show to showcase Bergamo’s recent collection. “The pieces in the limited collection for Spring/Summer use soft linens and cotton linen blend fabrics. They are pastel in colors and classic in design. But the trademark Bergamo high quality and comfort is there,” says Roland.
He furthers that the piña barongs are simple but the design in the detailing is well thought of. “We applied the same fabric of piña strips, shredded them and attached them by hand in the barong. Our barongs are simple yet elegant — perfect for any formal occasion.” The suits, meanwhile, are also made of soft linen, pastel colors and classic designs.
Soon after the stunning fashion show, guests started checking out the latest off-the-rack collection at the tastefully-interiored Bergamo shop.
