Viva, Amelia!

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star
Viva, Amelia!

(From left) Jay Alvarez, Rev. Fr. Jefferson Agustin, celebrator Guatemala Consul Mellie Ablaza and husband, Zambia Consul Louie Ablaza with Joy Romero.

The vibrant Guatemala Consul Amelia “Mellie” Ablaza celebrated her birthday at her family’s gleaming white countryside hacienda in Alfonso, Cavite with the support of her loving husband, Zambia Consul Louie Ablaza.

Known for hosting fabulous celebrations with the help of her son, avant-garde artist and fashion designer Jun Jun Ablaza, Mellie stepped out wearing an antique gold-colored tunic printed with Mexican painter Frida Kahlo’s portrait. She also wore a lovely blush-colored flower crown.

The sprawling estate was transformed into a festival of dance, music, fashion and the arts with the vibrance of Latin America — a continent near and dear to the heart of the celebrator. Guests, who arrived in their finest and most kaleidoscopic costumes, enjoyed the refreshing cocktails as well as an abundant Guatemalan feast.

It was a festivity in keeping with Consul Mellie’s joie de vivre and incredible zest for life and a celebration of the Lord’s faithfulness to the entire Ablaza family.

Many happy returns, dear Mellie!
