Men of the moment
Following the launch of its June-July 2017 issue, PeopleAsia trained the spotlight on its “Men Who Matter” 2017 through a special awards night recently held at the Grand Ballroom of the New World Makati Hotel.
As one of the magazine’s most important events, “Men Who Matter” awards night is held yearly to recognize exceptional men who are trailblazers and achievers in their chosen fields and professions.
Welcoming the elegant and dapper crowd were PeopleAsia editor-in-chief Joanne Rae Ramirez and director Pepe Rodriguez, who delivered a welcome message on my behalf.
Leading the 12th edition of our remarkable “Men Who Matter” awardees was actor and TV host Luis Manzano. Joining him in the esteemed roster of awardees were four-time PBA champion June Mar Fajardo, Henann Group of Resorts president Alfonso Chusuey, New San Jose Builders Inc. chairman Jerry Acuzar, fashion designer Francis Libiran, Calata Corp. chairman Joseph Calata, broadcast journalist Julius Babao, Conrad Manila general manager Harald Feurstein, RCBC senior executive vice president Chester Luy, Leon Gallery owner Jaime Ponce de Leon, Booky app founder Ben Wintle and PhilSTAR Media Group executive vice president Lucien Dy Tioco.
Other “Men Who Matter” awardees included Toyota Motor Philippines president and CEO Satoru Suzuki, racecar driver Marlon Stockinger and actor and TV host Paolo Ballesteros.
For his part, New World Makati Hotel resident manager Randal Linhart said, “It gives us a great pleasure to host once again PeopleAsia’s Men Who Matter awards. We believe the awardees tonight represent what we all strive to be — that’s people with purpose. We are so pleased to have all of you here tonight. To be the venue to recognize the ingenuity and the contributions of these men in their respective fields is an honor. We would like to congratulate tonight’s awardees and the team behind the success of PeopleAsia.”
VIPs from the diplomatic, business and social circles were present during the awards night. Among them were Russian Ambassador Igor Khovaev, Thai Ambassador Thanatip Upatising and wife Monthip, Togo Consul Evie Costa, Henann Group of Resorts chairman Henry Chusuey and former PCSO general manager lawyer Joy Rojas.
Lexi Schulze Berenguer-Testa ably emceed the program, which included raffle draws by Hugo Boss and Globe.
PeopleAsia magazine’s “Men Who Matter” issue is available in leading newsstands and bookstores nationwide.
