Cafe France, Wangs seek share of lead

MULTIPLE CHOICE - Kristina Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Cafe France and Wangs Basketball seek to gain a share of the early lead, shooting for second straight victories against respective rivals at the resumption of action in the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig today.

The Bakers hope to draw solid games from new additions Michael Calisaan and Paul Desiderio as well as Congolese big man Rod Ebondo as they seek to join early leaders AMA Online Education and Jose Rizal University on top of the heap at 2-0.

Calisaan dropped 23 points, 16 of them in the third quarter, to help put up a 61-35 advantage for Cafe France halfway in the frame before Desiderio took over in the fourth to keep the Rhum Masters’ searing rally in check en route to an 83-67 victory.

Cignal-San Beda, however, hopes to draw solid games from Davon Potts, Mark Bringas and Jason Perkins who churned out double figures the last time out as it seeks to notch its first victory in their 5 p.m. encounter with the Bakers.

“As for us, all our opponents are powerhouse teams because we are a very young squad. We all know that San Beda is a champion team. Hopefully, it will be a good game,” said Cafe France coach Egay Macaraya.

Newcomer Wangs Basketball is out on the same mission as the Bakers, hoping to ride the momentum of its first victory last week to improve its 1-0 card.

Tanduay, on the other hand, seeks to recover lost ground, banking on big games from Bong Quinto who finished with 12 markers and Mark Cruz, Raffy Reyes and Paul Sanga who scored 11 points apiece the last time out.
