MANILA, Philippines - It took unwavering determination and strong advocacy for Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong to shine among the 83 beauties from around the world.

Angelia, who bagged the Miss Earth title in Vienna, Austria last December, captured the hearts of many with her “we will, because we can” slogan. Unknown to some, this slogan was already a part of her campaign during her Miss Philippines-Earth reign. Now that she has gone global, her eagerness in pursuing her environmental advocacies and social causes also intensified.

“[Our] ongoing project is the ‘I Love My Planet Earth’ school tour wherein we go to public schools around the Philippines. We try our best to educate, inspire and encourage on how [students] can take care and preserve the environment,” Angelia shares.

The 25-year-old beauty also revealed on-going talks between Miss Earth and the United Nations (UN), which she hopes will result in a fruitful partnership.

“We’re very blessed enough to have a sit-down meeting with members of the UN in Vienna and now we have a follow-up meeting in the Philippines. I’m very hopeful that we will have a good relationship first before jumping into a partnership because they want to establish a relationship first and assess how can we both grow together; how Miss Earth could help the United Nations and vice versa.”

She’s also looking forward to a possible partnership with De La Salle-College of St. Benilde and USAID. With these recent developments, Angelia expresses fulfillment on how the Miss Earth organization is being tapped for the implementation of genuine causes.

With her vast responsibility as Miss Earth, Angelia is nothing short of exuding confidence. She achieves this by always knowing her worth as a woman. Apart from this, she also recognizes how Ever Bilena become a support to her journey as a beauty queen.
