A season of plenty

MULTIPLE CHOICE - Luis Espiritu Jr. - The Philippine Star

Dress to impress this season as fashion cults celebrate chic femininity.  Current “on-the-radar obsessions” and style tribes strengthen their aesthetic by redefining their roots and grandstanding their identities. While normcore still prevails as one of the strongest key looks for the holidays, a number of brands have continued to remain unfazed by the mood of the moment.

True to its fashion philosophy, Stradivarius’ Fall 2014 collection unfolds three major looks to celebrate the new retro in chic feminine sophistication.

Reviving the ‘60s style is the return of the new preppy. Modern patterns channel urban chic and define the reinvented urban look with style. Set the mood in chromatic tones such as ecru, burgundy and black. Form takes a new swing with the comeback of A-line and trapeze dresses and skirts, baby collars and high-waist bottoms.

From the ‘60s, the brand is revisiting the ‘70s Bohemian with new twists. Luxe fabrics display faux fur and sheer elegance. Palettes of stone, sepias, pale pink, mustard paint the collection and mix with botanical prints and denim. The spirit of decades past comes alive in fit-and-flare silhouettes with tight waists as seen in midi-skirts and waistcoats.

From fashion flashbacks, the brand touches the influence of menswear and androgyny in the art of modern layering. Structured lines and the oversize look are stylishly presented in camel coat, crisp shirts, wide-leg tailored trousers, Bermudas and distressed boyfriend jeans. Masculine hues such as camel, grays, white and denim add a cool touch to the overall look, shape and form.

This season’s wardrobe style-essentials are never complete without accessories. Adding up to these three major looks are fedoras, bags, and masculine footwear such as bluchers and ankle-boots.

Stradivarius’ chic irreverence is a declaration of individuality. Feminine fashion progressively explores new parameters of endless style interpretations. This is where everyday wear is celebrated with chic and elegance in multiple choices.
