Malagos wins 2 Great Taste awards
MANILA, Philippines - Another major victory for cacao farmers from Davao City.
Malagos just won two accolades at the 2017 International Great Taste Awards held in London.
Malagos 100 percent Unsweetened Chocolate and Malagos 65 percent Dark Chocolate have both been recognized with a single star by Great Taste, which is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers.
This is the second Great Taste award for the Malagos 100 variant and the group’s ninth international award to date.
There were 12,300 products judged this year, but only 35.1 percent of entries received an award.
Organized by the Guild of Fine Food, is the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink. It has been described as the “Oscars” of the food world.
Last June, Malagos received awards from the respected Academy of Chocolate Awards in UK: a silver for Malagos 100 percent Pure Unsweetened Chocolate, bronze or Malagos 65 percent, bronze for Malagos 72 percent Dark Chocolate, and one commendation for Malagos 85 percent Dark Chocolate.
In 2016, Malagos Unsweetened Chocolate (Drinking Chocolate category) won silver and two stars (out of three stars) at the Academy of Chocolate and Great Taste Awards in London, UK, respectively.
In October 2015, Malagos 65 percent Dark Chocolate bagged silver at the World Drinking Chocolate Competition organized by the International Chocolate Awards in Hannover, Germany. In April of that same year, Malagos Unsweetened Chocolate also won bronze for Best Unflavoured Drinking Chocolate at the 2015 Academy of Chocolate Awards in London.
