The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Manila Water’s pioneering initiative on used water management called “Toka Toka” will be featured in Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) Pahayagan Sites until the end of the year.

Toka Toka messages will also be included in all MMDA LED message boards and communication panels in different strategic places within the East Zone where Manila Water provides water and used water services.

The unveiling of the “Pahayagan Site” was made during the MMDA’s launching of its solid waste management project.

MMDA Undersecretary Corazon Jimenez said the “Pahayagan Site” is a great help to the agency’s aim to enhance its environmental initiatives, including raising public awareness on used water management and protection of water resources.

Manila Water East Zone Business Operations Group Director Ferdinand Dela Cruz said the project is part of the continuing partnership with MMDA for the revival of rivers in the metropolis.

“We are very thankful to MMDA for joining Manila Water in promoting advocacies for environmental protection especially in cleaning up our major river systems,” Dela Cruz added. MMDA is one of our staunch partners in promoting the need to protect our water resources.

Toka Toka is Manila Water’s flagship advocacy movement that aims to ensure cleaner and safer rivers in Metro Manila.  Individuals and institutions can share by doing any of the four ownable acts such as proper disposal of garbage; desludging of septic tanks; connecting to Manila Water’s sewer network; and supporting the company’s community-based sanitation and used-water projects.
