Erap's camp claims FPJPM will also support them
By Dennis Carcamo (philstar.com) Updated March 24, 2010 05:28 PM Comments (2) View comments

MANILA, Philippines – The camp of former President Joseph Estrada has belittled reports alleging that the group that supported the presidential bid of the late actor Fernando Poe Jr. would not endorse the former chief executive.

Puwersa ng Masang Pilipino spokesman Ralph Calinisan said that as far as they are concerned, the Fernando Poe Jr. for President Movement (FPJPM) has yet to make a formal declaration on who to support in the May 10 national polls.

"It follows that allegations that President Estrada would not be endorsed by the FPJPM are speculative," Calinisan said in a text message.

Contrary to reports, Calinisan claimed that all FPJ-allied organizations have thrown their support to the candidacies of the former President and his running mate, Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay.

He said these groups have signified their backing via a manifesto of support and commitment to the PMP tandem.

"We are certain that if FPJ were alive today, he, without any doubt, would support President Estrada's bid," Calinisan said, noting that Estrada and Poe were closest of friends.
